I’m Misha Akbar, the founder of Sama Health and a long-time advocate for culturally relevant mental health care. After 16 years as an HR business partner in Silicon Valley, I kept seeing the same pattern: people were struggling, but the support around them wasn’t designed with cultural nuance or trust in mind. Building Sama Health in the UAE came from noticing that same gap here. South Asians make up a large part of the population, yet their mental health needs are often misunderstood or overlooked. Sama Health connects people to licensed therapists who understand these lived realities and the layered pressures expats face. I’m also pursuing my master’s in neuroscience and psychology of mental health at King’s College London, focusing on early identification of anxiety, depression, and psychosis. My goal is to make mental health care in the region accessible, culturally grounded, and genuinely supportive.

Currently, Tanvi collaborates with agencies and clients across disciplines, creating still-life artworks and expressionist pieces that form the core of her artistic identity. Her work is intuitive and introspective, drawing inspiration from her inner world and translating emotion, memory, and narrative into visual form.
This philosophy led to the creation of TanviLollaArt—a space designed to invite pause, evoke feeling, and foster reconnection.
